FAQS

Who are we?

We are Heidelberg Junior Football Club (“HJFC”) located at Warringal Park, 2 Beverley Road, Heidelberg, Victoria.  We are known as “The Tigers’ and our colours are yellow and black.

HJFC participates in the local football competition with clubs in surrounding areas as part of the Yarra Junior Football League (“YJFL”).

What type of programs do we offer?

The HJFC offers a pathway for all children to play junior football, commencing with Auskick from around the age of 5 years all the way up to 17/18 years of age.

We field junior football teams (both girls and boys) from under 8s to Colts/Youth Girls.  Our Auskick program is intended to prepare our children for football via a series of structured activities intended on developing the skills and confidence for junior competition.

We are closely affiliated with the senior football club, meaning that children can remain as part of the Heidelberg football community well beyond the junior competition.

When are junior matches played?

Junior football is played on Sundays, with matches commencing from early morning.  Generally, younger children play in the earlier timeslots with matches becoming progressively later in the day as age groups get older.  Games are played at the grounds of each club in the YJFL, including Warringal Park and Heidelberg Park.

The YJFL home-and-away season generally commences in April and finishes in mid-August.  For those teams lucky enough to make it to finals, a series of Sunday final matches are played culminating in the YJFL Grand Final generally held in early September.

Each team trains on a given weeknight.

We also hold “pre-season” training in the form of “Tiger Tuff” which is a fun way to remain connected and involved with football in the off-season.

Why play with HJFC?

The HJFC endeavours to be the best club for every player and family that represents the yellow & black.  We are very strong in our philosophy of “LET THE KIDS PLAY!”.  Our focus is on developing our players’ abilities, promoting fair play, building friendships, and most of all having fun in a safe and inclusive environment.   We aim to attract new players, retain our existing players and foster each player’s connection with the club, their coaches and their teammates.

We are a Club who welcomes all, and where everyone belongs!
